A high-complexity conversion moves several fixtures, opens difficult structure, or requires a complete wet-area rebuild.
Ask for each scenario’s assumptions instead of accepting one “conversion premium.” Include concealed substrate, framing, and access allowances with photographs and approval rules. Keep independent plumbing or electrical system work visible as related trade scope, not as an unexplained bathroom lump sum.
Is it economically sensible?
Compare the conversion with keeping the half bath and using another bathing room, renovating an existing full bath, or creating a new bathroom. The conversion may make sense when location and access solve a real household need and the existing room provides useful infrastructure. It may not when the room needs extensive structural work or when a better-located existing bathroom can be adapted for less.
