Driveway material is a lifecycle decision, not only an installation-price comparison. Asphalt, concrete, pavers, and gravel differ in base preparation, drainage, repairability, winter response, maintenance, access, and the ease of changing the surface later.
A gravel driveway is a layered, shaped, and maintained access system. Aggregate, base preparation, crown or cross-slope, drainage, compaction, delivery, and haul distance often matter more than the visible gravel price.
Gravel-driveway repair may mean adding aggregate, grading ruts, restoring the crown, correcting washboarding, rebuilding an eroded edge, or changing how water crosses the drive. A delivery of stone alone may not address the failure.
